Basic Information:s
The 6th annual Byram Hills High School Cage League will be beginning this upcoming June. All current 8th thru 11th graders are permitted to play regardless if you are playing for the Boys Soccer team in the Fall or not.
The ONLY CURRENT SENIORS that are permitted in the Cage League are those that:
1) Played on the Varsity team in the Fall of 2007
2) Seniors who captured a title with Liverpool Cage in 2007
3) Anyone who has played within the high school soccer program for two years or more
This soccer league is intended to serve as a fun yet competitive bragging rights league.
We expect an aggressive style of play where players will be working on a smaller field with smaller goals in order to maximize the amount of touches every player will get.
The program also serves to introduce the players to one another as it serves to connect the 8th and 9th graders with the upper classmen.
Costs/Dues:
Every player will need to pay approximately $15 - $20 in dues in order to pay for uniforms, water refreshments, ice, trophies and paper for the daily newsletter. Any money remaining will be carried over towards the soccer season of 2008.
History of the Cage League:
The Cage League is now in its sixth year of existence. The team names have already been chosen which parlay the major teams overseas.

Eligibility Requirements
1) ANY 8th, 9th, 10th, and 11th Grader interested in playing soccer may play in the CAGE.
2) The ONLY CURRENT SENIORS that are permitted in the Cage League are those that played on the Varsity team in the Fall of 2007, Seniors who captured a title with Liverpool in 2007 and anyone who has played within the soccer program for two years or more.
3) This is truly INTRAMURALS. Playing in the CAGE doesn’t mean you even have to try out in the Fall. Your play will hold no weight come tryouts on August 25th.
4) You must SIGN-UP in order to get drafted. You must be drafted in order to be placed on a team. Signups end on Friday May 2nd, 2008. All 8th Graders will automatically be drafted by a team….No 8th grader will be left off the roster.
5) You must play for the team that drafts you unless the Captains and Commissioner agree to a TRADE.
6) Waiver Wire signings must be submitted in writing to the Commissioner. They will be limited this year to 2 Waiver Wire signings for the entire season. Other seniors may not be picked up on Waivers.
7) You must be able to play in at least 5 of the 8 contests. Do not sign up if you cannot make the dates posted.
Rules of the Cage League
1) We play hard. We hit hard and small fouls are not fouls.
2) The Cage Fits 12 Players. (6 v. 6)
3) It’s not played in a real CAGE; it’s played on a small outdoor field at the high school. It will be on Lower Field 2.
4) We play outdoors through Rain, Sleet and Snow. Indoor soccer doesn’t exist.
5) No Throw Ins. We play the ball on the floor. These balls are indirect.
6) Teams can sub on the fly but can only sub once reporting to half-field.
7) Cleats and Shin-Guards are necessary. One cannot play in sneakers unless we are on the turf field. One would be stupid if they did that anyway.
8) Ties will be determined with an three-minute overtime. The three-minute overtime period is GOLDEN GOAL or SUDDEN DEATH. In other words, once a goal is scored, the game is over. Then we move to a best of three-penalty shootout.
9) Referees Calls are Final; no matter how bad he is. There are no Protests.
10) Only blatant hand balls will be called.
11) Everybody plays on the team. Seniority doesn’t rule; intensity does.
12) We play with a Running Clock.
13) THERE ARE NINE TEAMS SO ONE TEAM WILL HAVE A BYE PER WEEK!!!!
14) CAPTAINS MAKE THE FINAL DECISIONS FOR THEIR TEAM!
